Bill Cenna

Pararescueman • AMGA Apprentice Guide

Bill has served for over 20 years in the Army and Air Force as a Pararescueman, earning a Silver Star and two Bronze Stars for combat rescue missions. He is a nationally registered paramedic and holds AMGA apprentice certifications in alpine, rock, and ski guiding, as well as Avalanche Professional Level 2. He has guided and taught wilderness medicine and mountain skills throughout his career across the United States, Europe, Africa, and South America. His approach to instruction is grounded in the same principles that guide his rescue work: preparation, clear thinking, and genuine care for the people in his charge.

How We Teach

Courses combine focused instruction with repeated scenario-based practice outdoors. The ratio of participants to instructors never exceeds 4:1. Every scenario is followed by immediate and delayed debriefs, and the curriculum is structured to build an organized, repeatable approach — one participants can rely on under pressure.

We work with participants before the course to understand their background and goals.

Who Attends

Physicians, advanced care providers, nurses, paramedics, and EMTs. Law enforcement and search and rescue teams. Outdoor guides and educators. Parents and backcountry travelers. Corporate groups looking for substantive team training.

Courses are open to anyone who spends time in the backcountry and wants to be  prepared – we will work with you to find the right course.
